You can read what people have posted in the various topics in the Forum simply by clicking on the link to the Forum above and then clicking on the appropriate topic name. If you wish to post a reply or contribution to one of the topics, you need to register with the Forum. Full details of how to do this are below and on the other page of this section If you are using the Forum for the first time, please read the information below and the details about Joining the Forum on the other page of this section before clicking on the link above. To get back from the Forum to the main Ramblers website home page, click on our Ramblers logo in the top left hand corner of the Forum home page. General Forum Information This is a new feature of the website and will be tried for a time to see if our members find it useful. It allows members to interact with other members through the website - to ask questions, provide advice or discuss issues of relevance to walking or to our group. There are two categories running within the Forum at the moment - one about Clothing & Equipment and one For Leaders. The messages that members put up on the forum are called posts. Within any forum category, members can start a variety of topics. For example, in the Clothing & Equipment category, one member might start a new topic by posting a question about a specific make of walking boot. Other members can post replies giving their experience or asking further questions about the boot. Another member might start a new topic by asking for advice on waterproofing a jacket. Other members might then post replies in that topic. In order to start new topics or post replies, you will have to register with the forum. This is to try to prevent posting of spam or any other improper posts. You will find details on how to register on the Joining the Forum page. This test version of the forum uses free software. Because it is free, there will be adverts appearing on the forum pages. However, these should all be related to walking in some way. I hope the forum proves a useful addition to the website and that group members will find it valuable. Navigating Within The ForumThis is the Home Screen of the Forum. The links you might want to use are highlighted in red.
This is the main screen for the ’Car Sharing’ Topic. The link highlighted will go to a page where you can read the individual posts that people have contributed.
Finally, the screen showing individual posts om this topic. One of the buttons highlighted will allow you, if you are already registered, to contribute to the discussion. It is as easy as sending an email.
