Balmaha Loop & Milarrochy Bay - C+ WALK - Wednesday 9 September 2026

On a beautiful sunny day, 19 walkers enjoyed a walk from Balmaha along the side of Loch Lomond to Millarochy Bay and back follow by lunch at The Oak Tree Inn.

Four Reservoirs, Pentlands - B walk- Sunday 6 September 2026

After an extremely wet drive from home, 10 of us enjoyed dry and often sunny weather on our low level walk, visiting Glencorse, Loganlea, Threipmuir and Harlaw reservoirs. We were spoiled with a stop at the Loganlea trout fishery cafe, late morning for coffee and cake and, for some, a pie!

Dunkeld Bus Walks - Loch of Lowes - C - 22 August 2026

Nine of us had a varied gentle walk from Dunkeld through woods and along paths calling in at Loch of Lowes a Scottish Wildlife Trust Reserve where we tried to spot an osprey but, alas, no luck.

Dunkeld Bus Walks - The Hermitage and Pine Cone Circular - Easy B - 22nd August 2026

12 of us enjoyed a picturesque and varied walk from Dunkeld to the Hermitage. We saw the falls at Ossian’s Hall and then explored Ossian’s Cave. We had a great view at Pine Cone Point where we stopped for lunch as we looked down on the Tay. We returned to Dunkeld on the beautiful Big Tree Walk along the Tay.

Dunkeld Bus Walks - Deuchary Hill - B+ Walk - Saturday 22nd August 2026

Four of us enjoyed the Deuchary Hill walk (18.6km, 598m ascent) from Dunkeld. The sun shone all day and we enjoyed the long views to the mountains over the beautiful heather-clad Perthshire countryside. Inspired by the landscape and “with the hills of home before us ..”, Phil and Laura sang some Scottish ‘heather’ songs. We were back in plenty of time to have a cold beer before dinner at 5pm in the Royal Dunkeld Hotel. A great day out in fine company.

Dunkeld Bus Walks - Braan Hermitage - C Walk - Saturday 22nd August 2026

This lovely walk, one of 4 on offer from Dunkeld, was led by John Russell. 13 walkers enjoyed this “Perthshire classic” with many places of interest along its 9.5km route. It passed through Tay Forest Park, Ladywell Plantation and Tomgarrow Wood before descending to Black Linn Falls, Rumbling Bridge and the beautiful Hermitage glen, with its towering Douglas firs and picturesque follies, including the Hermitage Bridge and Ossian’s Hall.

Ben Vorlich (Loch Lomond) from Inveruglas - A Walk - Sunday 16 August 2026

Seven of us had a good day on Ben Vorlich (945m). We set off up this steep Munro from the visitors centre car park at Inveruglas on the Walk Highlands route. The weather wasn’t ideal, low cloud and wet above 700m but it was great to be out in the Arrochar Alps and we are a hardy bunch.

Greenock Esplanade to Battery Park - C walk - Wednesday 12th August 2026

The weather was really warm and sunny when nineteen walkers had an enjoyable walk along Greenock Esplanade to Battery Park, taking in various historic sights, followed by lunch at Scott’s in Greenock.

Ben Lomond - A Walk - 9 August 2026

4 of us braved the poor forecast to go up Ben Lomond via the Ptarmigan Ridge. However after a very short time we removed waterproof layers. A cold wind near the top blew most of the cloud way so we were rewarded with some decent views from the summit, and descending via the tourist path we were in warm sunshine. Amulree and Loch Freuchie. B walk - 2 August 2026

On what turned out to be a beautiful, warm , sunny day, we walked from Amulree past Creag nan Gabhar (Goat Rock), the highest point of the day at 560m. We then headed downhill towards Loch Freuchie and walked, overlooking Loch Freuchie, through Glen Quaich on the Rob Roy Way back to Amulree. Photos by Campbell Russell, Fiona Taylor and Laura Muir.

Auchinstarry to Dumbreck Nature Reserve via Forth and Clyde Canal C Walk - 29 July 2026

19 walkers enjoyed a scenic walk along the Forth & Clyde Canal and Dumbreck Nature Reserve followed by lunch at The Boat House, Auchinstarry. Photos by Lesley & Angus Clark.

Schiehallion A walk - 19 July 2026

Ten walkers (including a new member and 2 non-members trying our walks for the first time) enjoyed a beautiful warm sunny day on Schiehallion. This is an annual summer A walk. Thanks to Fiona for stepping in to take charge of the group when the leader was unwell. She was really gutted to miss this! Threlkeld to Keswick and Friar's Crag - C walk 11 July 2026

We walked out of Threlkeld village towards Keswick, picking up the Threlkeld Railway path for a lovely, picturesque walk which finished at Keswick’s quite spectacular Old Station Building. After walking through the town, we went on towards Friar’s Crag, Keswick’s famous viewpoint, and Strandshag Bay. We then enjoyed a meal in a Wetherspoons pub before the bus home.

Walla Crag from Keswick - B walk 11 July 2026

On a very hot day, 10 of us set out from Keswick to reach the fantastic viewpoint of Walla Crag. We then had a steep descent which was a bit more challenging than planned so well done everyone for safely completing the challenge. It was then back to Keswick for well earned refreshments.

Friars Crag, Lake District - Explorer walk 11 July 2026

The Saturday market was in full swing as we walked through Keswick towards the exuberant colour of the flowers in Hope Park and then down to Lakeside for the fabulous views across Derwentwater.

It was hot, hot, hot!

There was plenty to explore on our walk to Friars Crag. From the Lakes poets, writers, artists and deep thinkers who all visited Keswick, Joseph Pocklington who altered the landscape to his own design to industrial history, (200 German miners colonised Derwent Island to escape the wrath of the local Keswick inhabitants) and more!

Time at the end for ice cream, cold drinks and a quick meal before meeting the coach.

Blencathra, Lake District - A walk 11 July 2026

8 of us had a lovely day going the easy way up Blencathra, also know as Saddleback due to its distinctive shape, via Scales Fell, Hallsfell Top and Blease Fell in a circuit from Threlkeld. It was very hot, especially on the ascent in the sun and out of the wind, but it was cooler the higher we went and it even got quite cloudy with distant views disappointingly hazy. We could hear the odd rumble of thunder way in the distance and we could see the rain clouds to the west, but we got literally a few drops of rain on the descent. Although we did not reach the coffee shop in Threlkeld before closing time, we had plenty of time to enjoy the preferred well-deserved cold drinks in the Horse and Farrier before the coach picked us up an hour later. Rigging Hill, Largs - B walk 28 June 2026

A lovely circular walk up the empty rolling hills behind Largs on the Ayrshire coast, in glorious weather despite forecast thunderstorms and showers. We had clear views of Cumbrae, Bute, Arran and hills to the north. We finished the day in Largs in Nardini’s cafe – of course – with several of the group sampling their famous icecream. Beinn Mhic Mhonaidh, Glen Orchy - B+ Walk 21 June 2026

Six of us enjoyed an absolutely fabulous day for our walk up Beinn Mhic Mhonaidh from Eas Urchaidh carpark in Glen Orchy, led by Fiona. It was perfect for the amazing views from the summit of this great value Corbett. We stopped at The Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum for fish & chips on the way back. A grand day out!

Nine Mile Burn, Pentlands - B walk 31 May 2026

We had a surprisingly dry and often sunny day for our walk – the forecast had been bad! Eight of us enjoyed the varied walk in some of the lower Pentland Hills.

A beautiful sunny day for our walk from Dollar up the glen to Castle Campbell and on through Glen Quey to the reservoir.

Ben Challum - A walk 10 May 2026

3 of us bagged this Munro near Tyndrum on a day which started in sunshine but clouded over in the afternoon. We got only a few spots of rain. However it was a very cold wind high up and we were in full winter layers, hats and gloves for quite a while, surrounded by the few remaining snow patches. The top cannot be seen from the A82 but is a bit more interesting than the grassy slopes below that are visible – with a very short narrow ridge which adds a bit of interest just before you reach the top.
