Group Holiday to Arinsal in Andorra, in the Pyrenees – 6-13 June 2026

20 members of our Group travelled to Arinsal in Andorra for a week – walking in sun and snow, and at heights up to 2000m some of the time.  Arinsal sits at 1550m.  It was very picturesque and a mixture of hilly with flat valley walk options.  The walks were all successfully organised and navigated by members of the group, with the help of the local Inghams rep for local buses etc. Instead of describing the holiday here, John Soraghan ‘penned’ a wonderful poem which says it all really – well done John.  Click here to read it.

See the stunning photos here, taken by Bill Faerestrand, Dave Clark, Phil McElroy and Bill Parkes. (Please note the date range is wrong – should be 6-13 June 2026 – but can’t be changed in Google album).

Group Holiday Alnmouth, Northumberland 16-19 May 2025

36 of our members went to Nether Grange, the HF Holidays House in Alnmouth.  It was a long weekend full of varied walking, too much good food, great company and some entertaining fun in the evenings facilitated by our HF leaders.  Each day our leaders led 3 different length walks in the same area.  The first day was in glorious sunshine but with a slightly chilly north wind, from various points north on the Northumbrian coast all ending up in Alnmouth.  We were rewarded with superb coastal scenery and colours.  The next day we did not see any sun and it was very cold but we were all in the Ingram Valley area with lots of evidence of Iron Age and Bronze Age settlements and views of the Cheviot hills, ending in a very good cafe before getting our bus back to Alnmouth.  Very contrasting days in lots of ways.  On the way down we spent 3 hours at the beautiful Alnwick Gardens in glorious, but slightly chilly, sunshine, and on the way home we had 2 hours to explore Bamburgh and admire the castle behind the beautiful sandy beach.  A very sociable and enjoyable weekend.  For a blog of the holiday by one of our members, click on this link.

Group Holiday to Huelva, Spain, September 2024

37 of our members travelled to El Rompido in Huelva province, in the south of Spain, for some well deserved warm sunshine, where we enjoyed a mixture of half and full day, very varied walks, led by a very knowledgeable local guide Manu, his speciality being the birds and wildlife.  But they were full of interesting history too.  Sometimes the heat made some of the walks more challenging than they looked on paper, but Manu managed to work out opt-outs part way along the walk for those who did not feel they could do the whole route, which worked out very well.    The 4* hotel was excellent with the all-inclusive meals and free drinks package proving very popular,  and as a result it was a very sociable week.  The weather did help of course.  This group photo was taken on the first day, in the Rio Piedras Nature Reserve with our hotel in the distance.

Group Holiday to Whitby 26-29 May 2023

After a great response from our members, 42 of us headed off to Whitby for our weekend walking break. Travelling by coach with our very helpful driver, Jimmy, we stayed at HF Larpool Hall in Whitby with great hospitality and excellent meals. Some of our members provided the evening entertainment which included a quiz and a humorous story about a snake!

Our walks took us both north and south of Whitby mostly on the Cleveland Way visiting Ravenscar, Robin Hood’s Bay, Hawsker, Staithes, Runswick Bay and, of course Whitby itself. We owe a huge thank you to all of our group volunteers who led a total of 5 walks over the weekend. The weather was brilliant with lots of blue skies and sunshine and a great time was had by all.

Group Walking Holiday to the South Lake District May 2022

Lake District - Wikipedia

This holiday for 3 nights from Friday 20 May to Monday 23 May was very successful. Participants enjoyed roaming in the country side of the Lake District despite the rain, after this trip had been postponed for two years due to the pandemic.
